MINDSPACE as a framework

This section offers potential suggestions of the use of surgical masks in the UK with reference to a framework called MINDSPACE* that is developed based on nudge theory.

* The idea of the framework comes from MINDSPACE: Influencing behaviour through public policy jointly published by the Institute for Government and the Cabinet Office [16]

MINDSPACE offers a checklist for policy making on how to non-coercively influence behaviours. It offers nine items captured in mnemonic – MINDSPACE. Here there are 6 items being developed for promoting the use of surgical masks. It is noted that these suggestions focus on the process of policy making.
